Effect of Congestion in Transmission Pricing for a Pool based Power Market considering Losses

چکیده
In restructured electricity markets, an effective transmission pricing method is required to address transmission issues and to generate correct economic signals. Transmission line constraints can result in variations in energy prices throughout the network. These prices depend on generator bids, load levels and transmission network limitations. A congestion charge is incurred when the system is constrained by physical limits. Nodal pricing approach also called Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP) has become popular method in restructured power markets to address the congestion management. This paper presents LMP calculation with distributed loss model to remove the high mismatch at the slack bus which is a drawback in concentrated loss model. Both of these loss models used DCOPF solved with Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Linear Programming (LP) approach using Power World Simulator and have been applied for New England 39 bus system and the results are compared in each model. Both fixed and linear bids are considered for generators. The load is assumed to be inelastic. Linear bids show reduced generation fuel cost compared to other methods in both the models. A directional-based branches current method for transmission loss allocation in the pool-based electricity market
This paper proposes a new method for transmission loss allocation. The share of each bus in the transmission line losses is determined using transmission line loss equations with respect to bus-injected currents. Then, it is applied to the total network transmission lines. In the proposed method, comparing with other methods, a solution to remove the negative loss allocation has been introd...

Congestion Risk Management is one of the most important subjects of Transmission management in deregulated power system and world electricity market, especially markets of zonal or local pricing in which Firm Transmission Rights (in other words Financial Transmission Rights) are the main elements. In this study, considering subjects of Financial Rights of Transmission Congestion, methods of opt...

Reactive power as a utility of ancillary service in restructured environment is supplied by Independent System Operator (ISO). Due to the particular importance of optimal pricing strategy in the power market, the study aims to investigate this problem more closely. To this end, first the problems of restructuring, reactive power generation and its associated costs thereof were reviewed and diff...
